Background- 

The carpet is associated with the Khamseh Confederacy was a tribal alliance in the Fars province of southwestern Persia (now Iran), formed in the 19th century. Their weavings are known for their distinctive designs, often featuring the characteristic large medallions.

Khamseh rugs were woven by various constituent tribes within the confederacy, each with its own slightly different stylistic interpretations, but sharing common design elements. These rugs are prized for their artistic merit, durable quality, and representation of Persian tribal art.

Rugs like this were traditionally made by nomadic or semi nomadic people for personal or & community use, often with symbolic motifs to beliefs or local identity.
