Background-

Beykoz ware refers to the glass produced in the Beykoz district of Istanbul, a craft established by Sultan Abdülmecid. These glass artifacts are considered valuable examples of Ottoman craftsmanship and artistry.

Throughout history, glass has served as a medium to express feelings, thoughts, and values in every society. Over time, it has evolved into a symbolic product, offering insights into the cultural values of its society of origin. When Beykoz ware, which bears the most significant marks of Turkish glassmaking history, is analyzed in terms of style, form, and figures, its adherence to traditional Ottoman aesthetics becomes evident.

This set comprises three clear glass decanters or bottles, each featuring a gently tapering body that broadens towards the base and a slender neck, topped with a rounded glass stopper. The most striking feature is the elaborate gold decoration encircling the lower half of each bottle. The patterns consist of stylized floral motifs, arabesques, and central medallions enclosing crescent moons and stars, repeated symmetrically. The neck of each bottle is also adorned with a gold band. These pieces are designed to be highly decorative, likely for serving spirits, perfumes, or as purely ornamental display items.
