Circa- 1900 - 1940

Background-

Kashan is one of the most prestigious Persian weaving centers. A quality wool on cotton foundation.

Kashan Kirk carpets especially older ones in good condition are highly collectible and rare. Central circular or oval medallion with radiating floral vine-work and symmetrical corners- a layout typical of high-end  Persian carpets and rugs.

Rich arabesques, rosettes and scrolling vines, all balanced and dense, point to city weaving traditions rather than tribal or village origin. Elaborate with interlocking floral scrolls - a hallmark of Kashan carpets.

The term 'Kirk' refers to specific style or design that is commonly found in these carpets. They are typically handwoven using very high quality of wool, which contributes to their durability and luxurious feel. Kashan Kirk carpets are highly valued for their beauty and are often used as decorative pieces in homes and art collections.
