Background-

The geometric & medallion design, the central layout with distinct diamond & cross shaped medallions & bordered patterns is typical of Caucasian rugs & runners, especially those from Kazakh or Kuba regions. The strong use of red, blues & ivory with contrasting outlines suggest vegetate dyes (natural vegetable dyes) which are common in older & traditional weaving.

Caucasus Mountains are known for high quality tribal rugs & runners with bold geometry. These types or rugs and runners are highly collectable & valuable not only for their craftsmanship but also for their cultural significance.

Caucasian Tribal Carpets were known for their prominent use of angular, rectilinear designs. Their bold colors with the predominance of strong reds, blues, and other earth tones. And the  central field with repeating motifs, borders with distinct patterns.

They are also known by the consistent hand-spun wool.
